Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Reinforces Border Patrol in Benue State.
In deepening its avowed commitment to effective Border management,the Comptroller General of Immigration Muhammad Babandede MFR embarked on a reinforced Border patrol exercise to the Ingoov Border Control Post in Kwande Local Government area of Benue State. The exercise which lasted for two (2) days saw the CGI patrolling the Border stretch between Nigeria and Cameroon with the DCG RTA Jaja (Border Management), other Senior Officers and personnel of the Rapid Response Squad of the NIS.
During the exercise, CGI Babandede visited the Refugee camp at Abande where about Two thousand, three hundred and ten (2,310) refugees were accommodated fifty (50) kms away from the Borderline. He made donations of food items to the refugees.
The CGI also seized the opportunity to visitHis Excellency the Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom where he renewed the commitment of the Service to reinforce the Border patrol activities while suing for continuous collaboration with the State Government.
The CGI visited the Tor Tiv, His Royal Majesty, Prof James Ayatse and the Terkwande, His Royal Highness Hillary Ikima where he canvassed for the Traditional Institution involvement in Community Border Policing activities.
The visit afforded the CGI an opportunity to encourage Officers and men of the Benue Command and he gave two (2) Official patrol vehicles and one (1) motorbike to them. He also commissioned some Command projects in Makurdi, ten flats of two blocks and a borehole at Buruku Local Government which will house members of the Rapid Response Squad.
