1. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced the commencement of an indefinite nationwide strike with immediate effect. The decision was announced at the end of an emergency meeting on Sunday night. Briefing newsmen after the closed-door meeting, ASUU president, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, said the strike will be total and immediate. READ MORE HERE

2. Members of the Organised Labour, on Sunday, were absent at the reconciliatory meeting with the Federal Government over the non-implementation of the N30, 000 new National Minimum Wage for the workers in the country. Mr Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) said on Sunday that the meeting was part of the exercise that ought to be undertaken as part of the ongoing negotiation. 3. The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday officially named Dr Obafemi Hamzat as the running mate of Mr Babajide Sanwoolu, its governorship candidate for the 2019 elections. Chairman of the party in the state, Alhaji Tunde Balogun announced Hamzat’s choice at a news conference in Ikeja.

4. Sen. Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment has said organised labour would attend a meeting with the federal government on the contentious new minimum wage on Monday. He spoke Sunday night in Abuja after labour leaders failed to show up for the scheduled meeting.

5. The United States Institute of Peace, USIP, has predicted that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muhammadu Buhari may win the 2019 presidential election. USIP said this in a report it published on the forthcoming general election in Nigeria. The report said though Nigerians feel their expectations were not met by the current administration, it would not cost Buhari his victory.

6. The Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has said people of all faiths must be treated with equal respect and dignity. This came in reaction to Governor Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai’s choice of a Muslim as his running mate for 2019. The Governor had announced former Secretary of Kaduna Primary Health Care Development Agency, PHCDA, Hajiya Dr Hadiza Balarabe as his new running mate for the 2019 election. READ MORE HERE

7. The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has listed names of 34 of its members, who were allegedly shot dead by soldiers between October 27 and October 30. In a statement on Sunday, the group accused soldiers of mass murder, demanding an investigation into the matter. The IMN said the list would be updated to accommodate the names of others yet to be identified. It said most of the dead were buried in Zaria, Kaduna state, while family members claimed the bodies of others. READ MORE HERE

8. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has distanced the party from the fight between Christian community, especially the Catholic Church in Imo State and Governor Rochas Okorocha. Oshiomhole told Archbishop Anthony Obinna of the Owerri Archdiocese and the entire Christian community in Imo State on Saturday that the APC was not party to what he described as the lack of respect exhibited against the church by Okorocha.

9. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the leadership of Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU) have vowed that no one can polarize Kaduna State along religious line. SOKAPU President, Barr. Solomon Musa, told newsmen that only electorates can decide who will govern them come 2019. This is in reaction to Governor Nasir El’rufai’s decision to pick a Muslim as his running mate.

10. Nigerian female singer, Tiwa Savage has emerged as the winner of the ‘Best African Act’ ahead of Davido and other acts at the 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards .She won the award ahead of Davido, Destruction Boyz (South Africa) Fally Ipupa (DRC) Nyashinski (Kenya) and Shekinah (South Africa)
