Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for its yearly literary and science awards, the categories are listed below:

Nigeria LNG (NLNG) Prize for Science 2019.

Title: The Nigeria Prize for Science 2019

Theme

  • The theme for the 2019 competition is: Climate Change: Erosion, Drought and Desertification. Entries are therefore invited from, researchers for work that contribute to dealing with isues arising from Climate Change especially Erosion Drought and Desertification -especially from the Nigerian perspective.

Eligibility

  • The award is open to all Nigeria and non Nigerians involved in the application of science to proffer a novel solution to remediate the impact of Climate Change especially Erosion Drought and Desertification. These works can be cumulative in nature covering all of these areas or specific to any of the topics listed
  • The work should be of outstanding merit and should have advanced the frontiers of knowledge and /or provided an innovative solution in the area of Climate Change.
  • The submission for consideration must be original and indicate the specific area of merit; and all submissions must relate to that particular area.
  • The submission for award must be submitted within the time stipulated.
  • Entries, including the supporting documents, must be submitted in six (6) copies, for hard copies.

Submission Procedure

  • Applicants must complete and submit their entries online accompanied by an application form obtainable online from the NLNG website or by clicking the Application Form Download Link Below.
  • Hard copy submissions are also acceptable but must be accompanied by the printed copy of the completed application form.
  • As the intention is to recognise the most relevant and effective solution to specific Nigerian problems, works of collaboration by Iwo or more persons are also welcome.
  • Only one entry per contestant(s) is permitted per competition year.
  • No entry previously submitted for this competition may be considered at a later date.
  • Entries not submitted by the stated deadline and according to stated conditions shall not be considered.
  • Members of the Advisory Board or Panel of Judges or their relatives are not allowed to enter their works for the Science Prize during their year of service as well as the following year.
  • NLNG staff or their family members are ineligible to enter for the prize.
  • The prize will be awarded for no other reason than excellence

Panel of Judges

  • A panel of judges shall be appointed for the Nigeria Prize for Science by the Advisory Board.
  • The appointment of judges shall, as far as possible, reflect and represent a multi-disciplinary approach relevant to the theme. Persons appointed as judges are those who have wide experience, peer recognition, good public image and command respect nationally and internationally.
  • The decision of the process shall be final.

Nigeria LNG (NLNG) Prize for Literary Criticism Award 2019.

Title: The Literary Criticism Award 2019

Submission Procedure

  • Since the aim is to promote Nigerian literature in the world, the prize will be open to literary critics from all over the world. Special considerations shall be given to critical essays on new writings in Nigerian Literature.
  • Contestants shall send in three critical essays published in major scholarly journals. Such journals shall have a proven track record of dedication to excellence and must have international circulation.
  • No critical essay previously submitted for this competition may be considered at a later date, even if major revisions of it have been made.
  • Mere manuscripts will not be considered. Entries not submitted by the deadline and according to stated conditions shall not be considered.
  • Only entries published in the year of the competition or within three years before then shall be considered.
  • No member of the Advisory Board or Panel of Judges can enter their essay(s) for the literary criticism award in the year they are serving.

  • Ten copies of the entry and, if available, an e-copy, together with evidence of Nigerian citizenship (photocopy of Nigerian passport or National identily card), may be submitted either by authors or publishers, in accordance with the genres in competition.
  • Books should be submitted to Nigeria LNG Limiteds External Relations Division, promoters of the prize, by the stipulated deadline. Failure to meet the stated conditions will lead to disqualification of the entry.
  • No book published before January, 2015 will be accepted. Complete contact information, including full contact address, email(s), phone number(s) and other relevant contact Information should accompany each submission.
  • An author will enter only one published work, Mere manuscripts will not be considered. No book previously submitted for this competition may be re-submitted at later date, even if major revisions have been made or a new edition published. The prize will be awarded for no other reason than excellence.
  • No members of the Advisory Board or Panel of judges can enter their work(s) for the award in the period in which they are serving and two years therafter. No entries will be entertained from members of NLNG Staff and their families

  • A panel of judges has been appointed for The Nigeria Prize for Literature by the Advisory Board .for Literature.
  • The appointment of judges has been done to reflect the genre in competition for the year. Persons appointed as judges have wide experience, peer recognition, good public image, and command respect nationally and internationally.
  • The outcome of the process as approved by the Advisory Board shall be final
