Army Kills 5 Boko Haram Terrorists, Recovers Arms. Troops of the Nigerian Army have engaged in a gun battle with Boko Haram terrorists in Gara village, Northern Borno State, killing five of the insurgents and recovering some weapons.
Our correspondent learnt that the troops, attached to Sector 3, Operation Lafiya Dole, with the aid of the civilian Joint Task Force, shot dead the insurgents during the encounter late on Friday.
The troops thereafter recovered items such as four AK-47 rifles, 55 rounds of ammunition and cooking utensils, while some terrorists reportedly escaped with gunshot injuries into the bushes.
According to the army, other items recovered from the terrorists were five magazines, 11 mobile phones, assorted drugs and six horses.
The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Texas Chukwu, who confirmed the incident, said citizens should report suspicious movements or activities for further action.
He said, “Troops of Sector 3, Operation Lafiya Dole, in conjunction with the civilian JTF, while on patrol to Gara village in Northern Borno, encountered suspected Boko Haram terrorists. Five of the Boko Haram terrorists were neutralised during the encounter.
“Items recovered include four AK-47 rifles, eight rounds of 5.56mm NATO ammunition, cooking utensils and six horses. Members of the public are therefore advised to report any suspicious movements or activities in their area to security agencies for prompt action.”
